Storing an object in a hashmap

I’m developing an application with multiple modules (in fact, several modules can be involved at the same time).
If I want to perform a query in order to retrieve the related modules, I have a datastructure like this:
my_object->{ “module1” }
my_object->{ “module2” }

The key of the hash is the name of the module and the value is a list of object that are related with the module.
Now, my problem is when a module is removed, the hashmap will have a list of the old object, but the current hashmap will not have the key, so the result of the new query will not be accurate.
Is there a way to store the object in the hashmap even if it was not created by the map?
