Nexus 5 is an action-adventure game inspired by story-telling and gameplay mechanics inspired by the Metroidvania. The player fights their way through the dungeons of the black pyramid, which is possessed by a witch that will try to kill you to stop you from arriving at the end of this journey.

Game Mechanics

Voxels

Nexus 5 is a game in the vein of the Metroidvania genre, it features puzzle solving, platforming and combat against enemies, as well as the environment. Enemies and enemies alike are created as a voxel-based, procedural generation technique, meaning that we can have trees, solid objects, lava, etc. in the game. There is also unique geometry in the levels, such as stairs and the like.

Arcane

Arcane is the magical set of skills that you can equip to your characters, your attacks will work in conjunction with the skills you equip. You can equip many different skills and some of these are activated by using a special skill “crystal”. Arcane skills include powerful magical attacks like fireballs and lightning bolts, but also less flashy skills, such as the ability to breath underwater.

Each character will start the game with certain abilities, they have an infinite amount of skill points they can invest in to equip an arcane ability with.

Witcheries

Witcheries are a generalization of traditional cauldrons that you can sell in the game to get items, often referred to as “boosts”. These range from the simple, like providing 3% of your health regeneration for 10 seconds, to the complex, like activating the enemy. The witch will return any potful of coins she makes that are not consumed.

The Black Pyramid is the main antagonist of the game, she is an ancient witch that is imprisoning the souls of people across the world and is aiming to murder them once the sun rises. We are creating the levels by placing her power at certain points across the world, and that’s how we are beginning to create new levels. We
