I think the question should be “How many people find that, in light of the much larger number of people who visit Wikipedia, the desire to learn is satisfied”.

Because while only a tiny number of people visit StackExchange, almost everyone has an account on wikipedia. That means that almost everyone has access to learning resources through that medium. That means that either the learning is actually happening at a higher rate, or the fact that more people are using this medium is a proxy for the fact that the learning is happening at a higher rate.

It would be interesting to see how people who are more motivated to learn by the way people think about it, those who know how to learn properly and are excited about exploring, how that compares to people who are not.
