How to use a has_one association as an attribute for a model

I have an association setup in the models as such:
belongs_to :user
has_one :comment

This works great and provides me with user_id and the comment. However, I want to use comment for a different function. I would like to be able to use the comment as a method on the model. I do not want to create a different association just to utilize this one because I have many other attributes besides comment. So how can I use the comment association as an attribute of my models and have it provide the method comment?
