Best animation film

No Trains No Planes. I know what you’re thinking, and you’re not alone. “The summer before 9/11”, in which Michael Caine tries to save a boatload of hippie kids from corrupting their good book, was released by 20th Century Fox as a $9.7 million dud. Predictable as ever, Harry just couldn’t do it. But more importantly, he failed to do it with a thimbleful of dialogue.

Harry is removed from the commission (for the third time, by the way), but he doesn’t disappear from the screen. He still gets to speak, and he still gets to learn: from his interaction with the kids, and from his interactions with New York City. He learns that he can’t keep his house in Great Neck, New York. He learns that there is evil. Not in the Sky itself, but in the people. But most importantly, he learns that there is evil in himself, too.

“Harry Palmer, Always the Spy” is an unreleased sequel to “Harry Palmer” by Michael Caine, director of the John Le Carré spy novels, and a remake of a 1971 movie about the same character. The original film was based on the novel by Len Deighton.

A new chapter began when director Alan Gibson asked Caine to write a sequel to the original film. After the 11 September attacks on the World Trade Center, Caine and Gibson realized the film could still be relevant in some ways, and expanded on the original plot.

The screenplay was written by James Heneghan, Harry Palmer’s son-in-law, and the film’s new protagonist, Harry Palmer. The film stars Michael Caine as Harry Palmer, who is still the same age, but has a new profession (as a private investigator), and is married to one of the young hippie kids that he saved from getting killed during a railway accident in the previous film.

It also co-stars Claudia Schiffer, Siâ¦a Niâ¦, of The New York Times, and ten-year old violin prodigy Jodie Patric Schneider, who plays the violin in the movie and acts as Harry’s “daughter”. Also appearing in the film are Simon McBurney, of the London Independent, Diane Lane and Rupert Everett (who acted with Caine in the original film).
