I don’t understand how the variable filmSerialNumber gets assigned at run time with the following line:
nFilms = filmSerialNumber;
It is assigned during construction of the object, where its value is 10. This implies it will remain 10 every time a new object is constructed.
There are a number of ways to handle this, depending on what you need.
One way is to have a method which returns the filmSerialNumber:
int GetFilmSerialNumber()
{
return filmSerialNumber;
}
You can then have a constructor for FilmInfo to call that method, and use it when you are creating the objects.
Another way is to change the way it is constructed. This changes the way the objects are created when you create them.
Change the code to:
filmSerialNumber = 10;
Then, later, instead of creating an empty object, create a new object that has the serial number set.
FilmInfo fi = new FilmInfo();
fi.SerialNumber = FilmSerialNumber;
Then, when you need to display the serial number, just output it:
Console.WriteLine(fi.SerialNumber);
