Plot

Once infected, the host loses control of its humanity, reaching total savagery and killing their owners in a gruesome fashion.In the four months since they arrived, 14 people have been infected, and all share a connection to their adolescent daughter. 22-year-old Delia, who is about to marry an up-and-coming NFL quarterback, is driving a hearse through the neighborhood to cheer on her team. Her fiancé Sam is then sent into cardiac arrest when a pursuing cat jumps on the passenger side of his Pinto. Delia calls her father, a doctor who works at the nearby hospital, to come pick her and Sam up.
Patrick, a neurosurgeon, comes to assist the injured couple. Patrick and Delia bond over a mutual distaste of animal cruelty and fetuses, though they are both sickened by the Cat. In the same building, mechanic and grill inventor Bob and his mother, Winnie, begin to fear for their safety, especially after the Cat kills one of their “pets” (neighborhood stray cat named Jimmy) while they are away. Their friend and love interest, Sam’s widowed neighbor Ty, arrives carrying a dead cat in her arms. Ty is visibly shaken and emotionally distraught.
Two residents begin shooting each other. Five of the victims are killed and three are sent to a local hospital, where Delia and Patrick examine the victims. Before the doctors could remove an infected femur, one of the doctors, a condescending Dr. Rothman, arrives, signaling the arrival of the third Cat.
