Steel Punk Ball is a game of precision aiming, strategy and timing.
The premise of the game is simple: You’re a ball made entirely of metal. Each level is made up of a number of platforms with varying heights. These platforms are surrounded by various hazards, all of which you must avoid at all costs to reach the next platform. How you do this is simple: each of the seven shot buttons fire a beam of metal, the more accurate you are the more shots you can fire. The more shots you fire, the greater the risk of hitting the hazards which would cause you to plummet to your death. The fewer shots you fire, the less the risk of hitting the hazards, but the harder it is to hit the platforms. Hit a hazard and you plummet to your demise. Bury a platform in a hazard and you plummet to your doom. Your goal is to reach the end of the level without taking too many hits, and ideally not any at all. If you do so, then you earn a point and a rank. The higher the rank, the better you play, the more points you earn, the higher you rank.
This isn’t really a tutorial, but it should be enough to get you started. From there, you can play the single player mode which has 14 levels, each of which have one of four difficulty levels, which can be played using the Options menu. You can play either single player or hotseat with a friend or an AI opponent, or download player maps with other rule sets and difficulty levels.
The game also features a single player story mode. This story mode features the same gameplay as the single player, only with the ability to save your progress. You can even skip cutscenes, provided you beat the game after the cutscene so that your progress doesn’t get tied up in the cutscene.

Each level is made up of a number of platforms, some of which are relatively small while others are much higher.
