This course provides an introduction to online writing. In the first week, students develop a rough draft of their work and plan for revision and for using the course book to improve their writing. Students record video presentations of their first drafts and create a preliminary reading journal to track progress, focus, and develop their writing. Students learn the importance of grammar and punctuation, and study how to write a thesis, a narrative, a poem, and an essay. Students work on improving their grammar, creating a better thesis statement, and plan for revision.

Writing online

Online writing is the process of writing in a medium that is distinct from the writing activity. The most common modern examples are electronic messaging via e-mail or instant messaging, chat rooms, blogs, and website forums, and reading material published via the World Wide Web. Writing on-line can differ from writing for one-to-one communication and while most of the time on-line writing can be either communication by e-mail, chat rooms, or forums; there are different ways to accomplish that writing. One way of writing is public for all to read and read and to see the writing on-line as a web page where one can retrieve and return to the web page later or can save it. There are also different ways that writing can take place where the writer writes alone, and the intended audience is kept private. One example is writing in a diary or journal.
