Wow. This game is just amazing. I mean that not just because it’s a fantasy game. I think it’s the fact that the game works so damn well and does what it says on the box. The menu controls are clear and concise and once you’re in game it doesn’t feel like you’re playing a game. It feels like you’re living a larger game. One that starts in a village and expands to give you a sense of “wholeness”.

The game has an enormous world to explore but does so in a way that fits the brand of fantasy style it wishes to present. The dungeons are gorgeous and interesting (I also LOVE that you can enter a room with a god that you have to have some kind of conversation with before the game does anything to you). I don’t want to say much more about them because I don’t want to ruin the story (which is incredibly creative and wonderfully written).

I can honestly say that there isn’t much more to the story than what the game tells you. There is no voice acting or characters that give you a choice in what you say and there’s no animation of any sort. It’s a very minimalist game that does what it does very well.

Kaleido: Shadows of Valentia is a Japanese role-playing game where you play the role of a paranormal investigator named Kazuto Koudai. Your goal is to find your father’s murderer, but you have to stay out of the way of a dangerous criminal organization that is after the same thing. Premise:
Kazuto Koudai is a young man who is the middle child of a single parent. His father is a famous detective and was the one that found his father’s murderer but they couldn’t find the evidence to arrest him. He was to be released from prison, but his wife came to visit him when the murderer reappeared at the prison gate and attempted to murder him. They managed to escape with the help of an old friend, but it was never proved that the murderer was actually behind the attack. This experience sparked his interest in exorcism, which he discovered to be a way to solve crimes.
Kazuto Koudai has started to move to a city to learn more about exorcism, but is unaware that he is being followed by another immortal known as “Emma”, an organization that aims to destroy the world.
