It has been a long time since I released an update for this game. After getting the basics right with Rise of Tarnished, I attempted to make the next update a little more polished by introducing permadeath, a setup that made it all the more unteachable, and a main progression system which sought to make the initial feeling of relevancy come back, and failed miserably.
Desperate times call for desperate measures. Tarnished now has permadeath and the option to skip old states to get new ones.
Not content with that, I’ve introduced a main progression system, dubbed the Elden ability system.
Before you can unlock any new territories as a new tier, you must master the current tier to be prepared to tackle the bosses and dragons that represent the next tier.
SiegeWars is also making waves on Steam, where we are striving to try and maintain a regular development cycle.

I’ve rethought the idea of permadeath. It doesn’t make it harder but instead make it teachable. Under permadeath, all of your gear, records, and unspent resources are lost when you die. Under a simulated permadeath, your gear and stuff will remain but you will start with resources of 2000 each. If you die while simulating permadeath, everything is lost. Dying under permadeath is only a recommendation to prevent you from getting stuck. Death before you’ve levelled is a hard life lesson. So is how to get past difficult bosses.
