Addicting! I�ve been eagerly awaiting this game for a long time. Having played it once, I�m hooked! In FF, chocobos are your game fare, and there are various monsters that you have to grab to defeat other monsters on your way. Here, chocobos are your ride, and you can ride them around your expedition site. There�s two different ways to ride: you can ride the chocobo at a trot or gallop. The higher your affinity with the chocobo, the stronger it will be, but the harder it will be to control. If you want to go faster, you have to purchase a faster model, but it�s not cheap. You can also attack various attacks on your way, charge items with it, and capture monsters.
Every single part of Final Fantasy XIV is done very well. First, the graphics of the chocobo is done very, very well. I have not seen anything comparable to how well they did it in the previous Final Fantasy XI, which was breathtaking at the time. Second, the game�s interface is great. I�m also a longtime fan of the concept where you can use menus and sub-menus as well as have action points to show up on the minimap. Final Fantasy XIV�s interface is a bit more casual, and it feels natural. For instance, one of the player areas is your chocobo, and you can talk to it and it will give you recommendations, tips, etc. Another cool feature is that you can customize your chocobo in your Chocobo House. And to top it off, you�re able to ride up to 4 chocobos at once! As far as story goes, it�s quite good. The story starts out simple, and slowly intensifies.
