The Microsoft Connector for Oracle is for use in both on-premises and cloud environments. It supports Oracle 9i Release 2, 10g Release 1, 11g Release 1, and 12c Release 2. The software does not support Oracle 11g Release 2 or 11g Release 3.
The Microsoft Connector for Oracle can be deployed as a native windows application. It can be installed with SQL Server Installation Media or can be downloaded from Microsoft. If the component is downloaded, it is installed in Program Files for 32-bit or Program Files (x86) for 64-bit.
This topic describes how to install the Microsoft Connector for Oracle. Installing the component will deploy one driver, the Microsoft Oracle Provider for OLE DB, for Access and OleDb, and install the Provider for ODBC for Microsoft Access.
Log in to the Microsoft Connector for Oracle Administration tool. Connect to the server on which the component will be installed. Click on the Install tab. If the component is already installed, it is configured to use the specified data source; it does not need to be uninstalled. If the Microsoft Connector for Oracle component is not already installed, you can download it by clicking on the Download tab. It is not required to register the component first.
