Replacing CFStringRef with NSString*

In Xcode 4.3, is there any possible way to work around the fact that all strings need to be converted to NSStrings before being used in Cocoa. For example, CFStringRef was changed to NSString *. The compiler then gives a warning saying that there will be a memory leak if the text is of type CFStringRef.

I have tried using @try-catch to try and get around this but if I try to catch the “EXC_BAD_ACCESS” (or any other memory-related error) then Xcode just shuts down the app with an error message.

How can I convert a CFStringRef to an NSString object?
Is there any way I can get around this?
