## Photoshop Elements
Elements is a lighter alternative to Photoshop for a smaller audience. Like Photoshop, Photoshop Elements lets you create and edit images with vector shapes and gradients, allow for the creation of text, and retouch and crop images. In addition, elements lets you use tools to create and manipulate layers. You can use some of the tools from Photoshop, but the newer features aren’t included. For example, there are no adjustment layers or layers that work like Photoshop adjustments. Although Elements versions 9 through 12 included an image-editing app called Photo Mechanic, it was discontinued after the 2012 release.
Adobe calls the program’s use the “power of the photo” because it lets you do so much with your images without having to first go through the dedicated app or graphic design software. For example, you can create something like a 5 x 5-inch wedding invitation with a non-Photoshop image editing software like PhotoShop (PC), Paint Shop Pro (Mac), Elements (Mac), or Photoshop Express (iOS and Android), and then use Photoshop Elements to cut and resize that design and design a return address.
Elements has three editions, depending on what version of the software you have, and which hardware you have:

If you don’t have Photoshop Elements, there are two options:
* Elements 13, a free app for iOS and Android
* Photoshop Elements for Creative Cloud, $49 per year
Elements is available for Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, iOS, and Android. It has an independent price on its website; as of this writing, Elements was $49 and Photoshop was $5.99 per month.
Elements combines a raster image editor with vector shapes, image-editing tools, and one-click manipulations for cutting and pasting layers, plus layers that work more like Photoshop’s adjustments.
