A group of entrepreneurs have purchased the majority shareholding of a leading social care platform, MindShare, which will see its headquarters move from London to New York, with plans to expand the business into the US.

The group, which comprises the founders and CEOs of MindShare, James Gilmore and Chris Slee, and Lisa Ordovas of RPA, will now own the company following the completion of a management buy-out of the other shareholder group, Thrive Capital.

MindShare is an online platform that enables people to communicate with each other in order to find new jobs and opportunities. Founded in 2004, the company also owns the UK’s careers website Indeed and the US job-sharing site Remote.com.

James Gilmore said: “It was clear from day one that it was in the best interests of all parties to secure a new home for MindShare, and New York is the natural choice. We have always been a global company, but for all our successes, we were becoming less flexible about where we needed to operate and less effective at communicating effectively with our colleagues across the world.”

The trio will remain in London to continue to run the company from its headquarters, where it plans to invest in the recruitment and innovation of the platform.

It is unclear whether the move to New York will impact the structure of MindShare, which is expected to continue to run as a separate entity within the wider Thrive Capital portfolio.

MindShare is currently based in London’s historic Victoria Tower.

Last year, MindShare joined forces with US company Remote.com to launch The Remote Community, a social platform that empowers users to share skills and knowledge of themselves and each other.

At the time, MindShare said that the new network would allow users to exchange contact details, skills, education, work experience and interest.
