How to activate Windows 10 with a digital license
You currently have the option to activate Windows 10 using a digital license or the OEM key that you shipped with your computer.
This article explains how to use both options.
Method 1: Digital License.
To use this version of Windows 10, you will need a license key (digital license) and digital activation of Windows.
To get a license, you must visit Microsoft’s website and purchase the key after completing the installation of the operating system.
In this guide, we’ll show you how to activate Windows 10 using a product key (digital license) and Windows digital activation, and how to create a digital key.
There are two ways to use a key to activate your computer in Windows 10.
The first is available from the Start menu under Preferences.
Select “Update and Security,” “Activation,” and “Windows.”
Once you select “Activation,” the “Enter Product Key” dialog box will appear.
Enter the same product key that you used to activate Windows at the time of your purchase.
If the product key is invalid, Windows will not be able to accept it.
If you have a product key, but you use it as part of multiple Office subscriptions or as part of another account (such as Home or Student), repeat the procedure from step 1 above.
Windows will then tell you if your product key is entered correctly.
Click Next.
Windows will prompt you for a new product key.
Enter it.
If you want to install Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows XP, click “Next.
If you want to install Windows 8 or Windows Server 2012, click “Next” but do not enter your product key.
Click “Next” to begin installing Windows.
If you want to install Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008, Windows 2008 Server, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, or Windows Server 2000, click “Next” but do not enter the product key.
If you want to install Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 2008, Windows XP, or Windows Server 2003, click “Next” but do not enter the product key.
If you want to upgrade to Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, or Windows Server 2000, click Next.
