A Gainesville family says their zebra finch “Sam” returned home Saturday night after leaving an aviary in Emmons.
The family reported Sam missing to the Gainesville Police Department on Friday, so when they were surprised to find him at the Arboretum, they recognized him immediately.
“You could tell he didn’t want to come out,” said Caroline Lee, Sam’s owner.
Police say the bird may have tried to return to the family’s home in Gainesville, and apparently decided to stay at the Arboretum instead.
