File formats
AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT only store the geometry of drawings in 2D and 3D. They do not store any information about layers and their properties. This means that layers are not supported by these programs and no layers can be hidden or made visible. Instead of layers, there is a built-in option to show or hide various objects in the drawing.
Structure editing
AutoCAD features a graphical structure editor, which allows the direct manipulation of the structure of an object, which can be a single or a group of objects, such as the selection of an object in a group or the deletion of an object in a group.

The bounding box editing feature in AutoCAD can be used to quickly sketch the dimensions of the bounding box of the selected object. The bounding box editor can also be used to draw out boxes and rectangles around the area of a selected object.
The bounding box editing is especially useful for creating virtual measurement points as it automatically creates the boxes around the physical objects. The bounding box can be expanded to see the size of the boxes. The bounding boxes can be copied, deleted, rotated and moved around the work area.
The bounding box editing is also available in AutoCAD LT in the Windows ribbon’s Tools ribbon.
Dimensions
The dimensions feature in AutoCAD allows the user to create custom-named dimensions with custom properties such as an axis, which is used to define a view in which the dimension is oriented.
