Not
one to look a gift horse in the mouth, I took it for a spin,
and it actually turned out better than I had hoped. It’s a cheap
old toy that’s been whipped into shape, and it’s certainly a
better set of pedals than any of my usual stompboxes (and
they’re all VERY nice), but I’ll save a more detailed
writeup of my impressions and my observations of the pedal
for when I get time. That said, it is the *best* price I
have seen for a fancy pedal in a long time, so I’m ecstatic
to have it.

Ok.
Moving right along. My last purchase of the year was,
well, kind of a big one: the Boss TS-6 Delay / Reverb.
With the addition of some more goodness from the Boss TU-3
unit, it was time for me to upgrade this pedal. If you
know what this pedal does, then you can skip to the
conclusion of this review.

I’ve
been using this pedal as a reverb and delay for about
6 months, so I really have no complaints at all. It’s
a fairly simple unit, with little more than a 1/4
inch input and a 1/4 inch output, a reverb, a tape
delay, and a control knob for setting the reverb
time.

And
now the real magic of this pedal is revealed. This
pedal has a tunable filter in front of the reverb
and delay sections. The combination of the tunable
filter and the ability to switch between the two
sections means that the unit can act as a delay
or a reverb, depending on which section you select
when you dial in the parameters.

It
sounds like the work of a god, and it is a godsend
if you really want to try to coax some good tone
out of your unit. I’ve been using it with an un-proverbial
gift for the past 6 months.
