Intro

Here is an overview of Incremental Adventures (IA) and how it works.

Incremental Adventures has two elements to it: gameplay mechanics and the “brain” that controls your characters.

The gameplay mechanics are what force you to adapt to progress and fight better. The “brain” takes care of this.

I will now explain the “brain” in a bit more detail.

The Brain

As you can see in the following image, it is a flow chart that lets the “brain” watch your progress and has him perform certain actions automatically and on certain conditions. He is able to do this and this will explain all that is in this blog.

Gameplay Mechanics

I’ve mentioned that the game is designed to increase in difficulty as you progress. Also, you will gain new abilities that require you to increase your proficiency. All of these (and more) affect the gameplay mechanics.

To demonstrate how the “brain” works, I will tell you about a particular event: combat.

During combat, a combat roll is performed. During the combat roll, you can attack (through a mechanic that will be explained later), block or dodge. As you attack and block, your damage is calculated. You need enough damage to reach your target health and at this point, your “brain” will automatically perform a killing blow that will remove the enemy’s health. After this, your “brain” will check for a new target. If he succeeds, he will search for a new target. This happens until there is no more target left.

The result of all of this is that you will attack multiple times (if you managed to reach your damage threshold) and the amount of health that you take will depend on how many attacks were made. You will also attack a large amount of times if your target is weak.

Some abilities affect the entire combat roll. If you use an ability in the beginning, he will affect the entire combat roll. The “brain” will not be able to go back and change anything during combat.
