DMDave has provided the components for the Dungeon Masters Guide: Quabus 5E campaign in an easy-to-use, rules-ready state for use on any 5E compatible game system. Upon purchase you will receive a DM, and character sheet, and the campaign map files for the 5E Compatible version of the adventure.

The ruleset includes the 5E Core Rules in addition to the DMG: Quabus. This book takes characters on a hidden sigil quest within the Underdark.

The Underdark is a part of the world that we know little about. It is a wet, misty, and dangerous place, but, not very accessible. Maybe it is the DM’s job to make the world accessible through their campaign. This book will give you the tools to do just that.

The dungeon gives character classes more options for fast advancement by entering a class of prestige. It also creates a much faster advancement period for the races on the Advanced Level. It’s still slower than other methods, but it does make the journey to the higher levels more palatable for the GM.

Regardless of your campaign, you will find a home for your players inside this adventure

Narrative

Into Quabus has four adventure areas for characters to enjoy. Each area can be used as an adventure on its own, and the four areas interconnect in a satisfying fashion. My first campaign will have my party using the 1st and 2nd areas for their third and fourth adventure areas.

Each adventure has several map locations to explore, as well as a skill challenge and a “bonus adventure”. Each skill challenge occurs at a location (sometimes more than one) in the adventure area. Every map location in the adventure has a simple “Hidden” or “Visible” icon on it (Hidden will never show on the main map). The icons have no bearing on the game, but are there to help players identify which locations they are visiting. Once a location is selected, clicking it will show the location’s icon, name, description, and any background or special notes.

Adventure areas

Locations are given a number in the top right corner of the map to make it easy to find your way around each location. The icon for the location also appears in the bottom left corner. Locations without an icon have no functionality. Any locations that are used will have a “Target: Choose Location” icon above it. This tells you how to select the location to go to.

Skill Challenges

For every location in an adventure area, you can find a Skill Challenge (not skill check) that is needed to access that location. Some locations have multiple challenges and will contain one or more than one (examples: Jail cell, Boss fight, Room with a locked door). If a challenge has two or more prerequisites (for example, find the Door Key in the office first, then see the Boss in the Lair), you can always ignore the first prerequisite (you have no way of obtaining the door key), and go straight to the second challenge. If you are carrying a weapon of choice, this will be easier.

If you fail a Skill Challenge, you are given a choice on what to do next. I have 4 choices for what to do next in my settings:

Danger level – Chance to encounter higher level threats

Bonus Adventure – The location you just failed

Go Straight – Keep going down this path

Retry – Try the challenge again
