It’s not a C-S-I-I-T-Y field and the software is still in its infancy—Photoshop is always evolving and people are always working to make it better. Another way of saying this is that Photoshop is no less than 20 years old.
Photoshop can be used for creating retouching, photo restoration, composites, and more. It can be very expensive, and because it’s so popular, photoshoppers have to be in high demand—hence the premium prices.
You use Photoshop to edit images on a computer. You can also get programs on USB drives.
Photoshop and the other Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom plugins can open Photoshop images on any computer.
You can use different modules to do different tasks. Some modules, such as the Pen tool, are only available in Photoshop. Check out the following section to find out more about the tools in Photoshop.
Understanding some of Photoshop’s tools and layers
You use different tools in Photoshop to manipulate the layers in your images. You can work at the interface level or with the individual layers. Here’s a very simplified overview:
Tool bar
The tool bar is the icon-filled row at the top of the image window. This tool bar offers such functions as the following:
The standard tools, including crop, straighten, rotate, and so on. (Refer to Figure 4-7.)
The timeline, which is the most frequently used feature of Photoshop. (I explain this feature in the later section “Using the timeline.”)
The tools and settings panels. (These are the same as the panels in the original Photoshop CS2, shown in Figure 4-8.)
The Properties panel. This panel contains most of the program’s settings. (Refer to Figure 4-6.)

Image window
The image window contains all of the individual layers that are used in your image. (Refer to Figure 4-7.) The image window is a jumbled up mass of stuff — that’s because all the layers you have loaded are displayed in the image window. You can resize the image window and crop the image window to precisely fit the image you’re working on.

How does Photoshop Elements compare to Photoshop?
Photoshop is not a plug-in for Photoshop. Photoshop Elements is an alternative to Photoshop.
Adobe Photoshop has an extensive set of tools for photo editing. Photoshop Elements has similar tools but fewer features, reduced memory usage and a simplified user interface.
Many of Photoshop’s most powerful features are accessed in Photoshop Elements via menus. A summary of the main features of Photoshop and Photoshop Elements are given below.

This section details new features in Photoshop Elements 11.
Colour Adjustments
When you use Elements you can make adjustments to the existing colours in your image, or create a new image with different colours.
Adjustments to Colour
When you use Photoshop Elements to make a colour adjustment, you don’t create the new image from scratch. Rather, you modify the existing colours in your image to achieve a desired effect.
You have the following options for modifying existing colours:
White Balance
The temperature and tint of white. It can help to improve contrast, remove flare, and correct colour casts.
Flash Exposure Compensation
These controls allow you to correct for the light being reflected off the subject and lens.
Exposure
Presents a single slider, which is the amount of overall exposure correction to apply to the image.
Colour
Presents a slider bar to adjust the temperature and tint of the colour.
Solid Colour
This option is only available when you use Spot Healing. It allows you to apply a single colour to an area of the image.
Colour Adjustment Brush
This is the brush that you use to make a selection and apply a colour adjustment to that area of the image.

Interaction of Vibrio cholerae O1 antigenic and lipopolysaccharide loci on phage CT10 clones derived from B and O1 biotype.
The interaction between V. cholerae O1 biotype and V. cholerae O1 antigenic loci on phage CT10 was studied. Six clones were obtained by in vitro transformation of Escherichia coli P15 cells with a V. cholerae O1 biotype bacteriophage isolated from traditional cholera patients. Phage CT10 was randomly inserted into the genome of five clones producing phage CT10 variants bearing different lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and O1 antigenic loci. Two clones had phage CT10 isolated from the LPS O1a (Biotype 2) variant; both clones were positive for the O1a serological and biotyping characters and could be categorized into LPS O1a (Biotype 2) clones. The three other clones produced phage CT10 inserted into LPS O1a biotype loci. The LPS O1a (Biotype 1) in all three clones was the same as that in the genome of the parent phage CT10.
