I’m trying to write a Bash /ksh script. I’m new to scripting, so it might be just a minor detail that I’m not looking for.
Essentially, I want to allow a user to enter a directory to which I will run a script to change permissions. It will list what directories are in the directory the user entered, and change the permissions on those directories as the user enters them.

If you have more complex interactions between the script and the cd or the call to the script, you can do one of a number of things to structure them:
Use a helper function. You can use it as a function to reduce code in the script. So instead of writing the cd and the script.sh call, you would write:
