The ‘Serial-Key’ file is the one that should be the ‘key’ to the password file. The.dat file is encrypted using the password, so you must know the password to decrypt it and decrypt your password file.
The idea is to create a key, which is used in the.dat file. The key is “unique” for the password file, and this password file with the key can be used on any computer to decrypt the password file. The key can be a serial number or an ID.
I tried to see what the key is doing when it is used on a computer, so I opened a file.dat with notepad++ and I am pasting this file in my password file and saving it.
Here is an example how it works:
I have this.dat file on my desktop and I use notepad to type:
123456789101112131415161718
and I save it as example.dat. I paste this.dat file in the password.dat and I save it as passwordexample.dat. Then, I close notepad and I open a new notepad and I type:
123456789101112131415161718
and I save it as password123.dat.
Then, I use my key 123456789101112131415161718 to decrypt the password123.dat. And then, if I use notepad++ to encrypt the 123456789101112131415161718 with the same key as I used for the password123.dat, and then save the encrypted 123456789101112131415161718 with the name 123456789101112131415161718.dat, I will be able to open the 123456789101112131415161718.dat with notepad++.
