Licensing and upgrades
AutoCAD is available in three editions, Standard, Professional and Architectural, with discounts for the latter two. It is available for purchase, installation, and upgrades. As AutoCAD 2016 (or 2013) is a 32-bit application for Windows, a 64-bit version will be available in the future for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. New 3D capabilities and features are licensed separately. AutoCAD 2012 is offered under the upgrade option. AutoCAD 2013 is offered by subscription. AutoCAD 2016 and later was offered on a subscription basis from Autodesk Subscription Manager.
The subscription for AutoCAD 2013 is initially installed for one year. The next year it is extended for 12 months and so on. Subscription costs $50 a month per user for single-user licenses. As of October 2017, the subscription plan is discontinued, having been replaced by a “pay-as-you-go” plan that includes all 3D features. The pay-as-you-go plan is $400 a year for single-user licenses.
