Free To Play Games Suffer

Lots of games are free to play. No matter how you slice it, at the end of the day people that enjoy playing games want to play games. Unfortunately, this means that some developers have to take a loss to make their games available to as many players as possible.

When people say “free to play”, its important to realize that it’s a means to an end. Developers don’t do it so they can make money – although they may be able to make more if they put in a lot of effort. Developers do it to get the game out to as many people as possible.

For the most part, F2P games have to do a lot of things really, really poorly. If your game does something that people will like, such as running well, then people will keep on playing. If your game doesn’t do those things well – such as giving players a lot of options to customize their character and do things to that character, then people will be able to play your game for a few minutes and then leave.

For most F2P games, the best they can hope for is to be “good enough” to not be a complete waste of time. If you’re considering making a free game, it’s important to realize that unless you get this right, you’ll be losing money.

The ideal is that players want to play your game as much as possible, and for as long as possible. However, most free games are not very good at doing that, and that’s really sad. Instead of trying to make your game more free, make it less free.

We’re looking for more interesting games like this and this one!
