Notes concerning changing the input data:
Each input line has three fields:
Column 1 (time)
Column 2 (time in milliseconds)
Column 3 (instrument name)
As you can see, the first two fields have no significance for the data conversion.
Instead, the values of column 3 are used, and they start with the instrument names, eg the keys-values as
seen in a midi file. This transformation is done automatically.
NOTE2MID converts only the data in the first two columns. No information about events is used, so the
eventlist format is not yet supported.
However, you can copy the corresponding eventlist file (e.g. from Midiprep) and use it for conversion
(or -eventsfile). For example:
NOTE2MID -eventsfile mini:evlist.txt -o files/out.mid -values

NOTE2MID example
On a linux system, it is recommended to use the./note2mid -version command to confirm whether you have a
proper version of NOTE2MID installed on your system.
Execute NOTE2MID with the -help command if you want to see the usage instruction.
The option help is crucial, since it shows not only the basic usage, but also all of the additional options.
The command help is not needed for the -values options, since you can see the options using the -help and the
help will tell you what the input and the output file names are.

NOTE2MID creates a midi file for a note list of a midi file.
It converts a file or multiple files and stores the information in the midi file.
NOTE2MID can directly write a midi file to your midi output device or a file.
And reading a midi file from a file or device to a text file.
In case of reading from file or device, NOTE2MID saves a some information to a separate midi file.
The midi file can be converted to a text file and then created a midi file.
The program will create a number of midi files in a folder from the midi file.
A better way of converting a midi file is to convert and save a midi file with sonify 4.
Then the midi file created by NOTE2MID can be used to convert the sonified file to a text file.
The files converted/sonified can be read easily by programs.
NOTE2MID also has a simple GUI to convert a midi file, but not a easy use.
There are some features which are not included in the GUI:
– conversion of strings (no encoding, just a simple string)
– conversion of midi files
– conversion of midi file to text file
