GIMP creates an oscillating path which moves along a path provided. You can do this with a variety of motions and movement, each with different ways to set parameters such as frequency, amplitude, and action. You can even control the destination of the path.
Parameters :

Path : A shape, line, or closed path on which the motion will play. By default it is a simple square wave.
Path Type : square wave or sinusoid
Movement
At End : Automatic
Activate Pre-movement : Yes
Loop Until : Keeps repeating until you tell it to stop.
Stroke Pre-movement : If there is a pre-movement pattern
Minimum Frequency : Calculates frequency (see above for details).

Installation :

Unpack slinky to your GIMP Plug-Ins folder. (GIMP Plug-Ins – Slinky plugin. There may be different plugins for different versions of GIMP.) You don’t need to unpack slinky again after installing it.

Notes :

Slinky does not need Python 2.6.3 or later, but Python 2.6.3 or later is recommended to make use of some of the advanced features.

The core programming of slinky is written in Python 2.6.3 and is compatible with Python 2.6.

Slinky is a work-in-progress, and will be developed and improved regularly. Some versions may have bugs. Be careful.

The best way to find new bugs is to report them to me – I’ll try to get them fixed ASAP.

If you’re using GIMP 2.8, you should really start using the new Python Binding for GIMP, rather than the old VAPI.
This is not yet available for slinky, but may be for a future release.

What’s New in the?

I wanted to add a new feature to my plugin
Slinky is basically a plugin that allows you to create
sine shaped vectors, or loops around existing paths.

Requirements

To use Slinky you need:

The gimp python libraries : libgimpwidgets, gimp-python, python-gimp
A Gimp Plugin file with the extensions: slinky.

How to use it

Put the slinky.py file in the correct directory inside the plugin you’re going to use.

Compiling the plugin

The source code of Slinky.py is not available for the time being, because I’m having a lot of problems with multiple definitions. But you can test if it works for you by compiling it :

To compile your plugin.py file, do the following:

Change into the parent directory of your plugin.py.

Copy slinky.py to the working directory.

Compile slinky.py using the commands : python./plugin.py
cd..

When your plugin compile successfully, it means it’s OK.

In some cases, compile will only succeed, but the plugin will not work when you will put it in your working directory. This is often the case with Gimp Python Plugin extensions. This can happen because the python GIMP API files are badly formatted, or because they need to be compiled from source, but in my case, it was only because I didn’t have a right environment on a Raspberry Pi 2 with Raspbian.

Basic Use

The basic use of Slinky is very easy, all you need to do is write the name of the path to be followed, and the starting point of the path.
For example, to draw a wave starting from (0,0) and ending at (10,10), you would write:

sli_path_create(0,0,10,10);

and the code would be :

def sli_path_create(start, end, end_radius, miter_radius) :

prepend = start
for x_val in range(0, len(prepend) – 1):
prepend[x_val] = int(prepend[x_val] * end_radius)
append = end
for y_val in range(0, len(append) – 1):
append[y
