Basic Tools

Designer needs to have a great understanding of color theory. Under the Color menu, the Panel shows the color-specific settings.

When you are using a standard image file, the default RGB color mode is sRGB. This mode should be selected under the Default menu to ensure that colors are displayed accurately. In many cases, Photoshop would prompt you to convert the image to a different color mode, so selecting sRGB from the Default menu is recommended.

If the image contains CMYK colors, adjust the Range (Color) menu to make sure that the red, green, and blue (RGB) values are in the 0-255 range, while the cyan, magenta, yellow (CMY) values are in the 0-255 range.

To edit images that contain Grayscale or Indexed color, it is recommended to modify the Color Range menu to view the RGB and CMYK values.

After opening a graphics file, you can copy from Photoshop to another image, create a new layer, and copy (using the Copy method) and paste (using the Paste method) onto a different layer.

A layer is an image that you can use to edit the other layers. Using layers is an easy way to create a composite image because each layer is editable separately.

The Image menu allows you to open image files and edit them in the image editing program. Image manipulations usually begin with the Load dialog box, where a file is selected.

Typically, a file has one or more layers. To add a new layer, you must first click on the New Layer button in the Layer menu. The New Layer dialog box opens. The first part of the dialog box lets you select a new layer and name it. The top part of the dialog box shows the current layer’s name and its location.

The Bottom part of the dialog box lets you select a file and choose a blending mode. After changing the settings, click OK.

How to Install Photoshop Elements on macOS

If you are running macOS, you’ll want to know where your programs are stored and how to check which version of Photoshop Elements you have.

Open a terminal window.

To get to a terminal, press Command-Spacebar, then type Terminal.

Check the version of Photoshop Elements on your computer.

From now on, I’ll assume that you have the latest version of Photoshop Elements, although I’ll explain how to get to older versions below as well.

We’ll also assume that you are running the system with admin permissions. If you aren’t running with admin permissions, you’ll have to be more careful when using the command line and editing settings.

Go to the top of the directory.

Type psexec. (Mac only)

We’ll use psexec to move the files to the Applications directory (the folder that contains all of our programs).

cd ~ ; psexec \\127.0.0.1\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Elements 15.0\

This will launch the program for you. You can use the 1-2-3 method to launch it if you need to launch Photoshop Elements over and over again with the psexec command.

If you have more than one version of Photoshop Elements installed on your computer, you can use this command to launch one version instead of all of them:

psexec -s -i -d -s -r -s -c ”

I have a package (just a plain text file) that does what node.js expects it to do. In package.json I’ve got:
“main”: “index.js”,
“scripts”: “index.js”

and in index.js I include it with:
require(‘app/index’);

where app is the package location.
The function in the package executes fine and behaves as expected but I would like it to execute in a different context of the node application so I’ve tried:
module.exports = { “foo” : “bar”};

and then in index.js do:
var app = require(‘app’);
app.foo();

But this results in a ReferenceError because require is being called from within node and not from the package. Is there a way to add this extra functionality?

Use the package.load function and specify a callback
import App from ‘path/to/package’

App.load(function () {

console.log(“Hello from the App module”)

})

App will then be available in your node app under module.exports.
You could then call module.exports.foo() in your node app.
