OOXML Crypto Stream [Updated-2022]
Full OOXML support for encryption and password-protecting your documents. Designed for ASP.NET developers, as well as for those who work with SharePoint, Windows Data Services, SQL Server and Web Services.
This is not a plug-in, but a virtual OOXML file, which can be encrypted with an asymmetric encryption scheme in any of the supported formats, including Microsoft Office 2007 word (.docx,.xlsx,.pptx), Excel (.xls) or PowerPoint (.ppt).
The plug-in offers two types of authentication: one-time or continuous. The latter option can be used in addition to another authentication mechanism and continuous authentication is a full-featured solution for controlling documents while they are being worked on.
The plug-in provides a full set of options for Office 2007 security, including how to create password-protected documents, encryption streams or other types of documents. Encrypt and open encrypted documents is done using the encryption and decryption stream interface, and supports third-party applications and other third-party components such as Adobe Acrobat and Open XML.
This version of the product is not a product for consumers, but allows you to generate document and other files protected with password, date, or other parameters.
Features include:
✔ Encryption of OOXML documents (docx, xlsx, pptx). A special password option allows one to create documents protected with the password; a password option for encrypted documents makes it possible to create multiple protected documents;
✔ Encryption of RAW XML streams. The encryption is also performed on the stream (not on the data only);
✔ A full OOXML plug-in, not a one-way method for the user to open the document (like other approaches).
✔ New UI to specify the necessary settings (opening, saving, encryption/decryption) and more.
✔ Full support for embedded encryption streams within the Microsoft Office 2007 encrypted documents;
✔ Manual or automatic encryption of the modified documents (re-encrypt the encrypted document if the file was modified, or encrypt the entire file if the file was modified).

OOXML Crypto Stream is a Microsoft Encryption with XML Schema (EwsxS) based tool, providing a simple integrated solution for encryption. As an open source project it is free of charge.
With OOXML Crypto Stream, files are encrypted or decrypted in the Open XML environment, which allows users to manipulate the files and work with them as they normally would. Several additional features are also integrated:
The encryption is applied to selected files only. After encryption, a password protected Word file is created automatically, allowing you to open and edit the document, but without saving the decrypted data. This way the original file is still accessible, while the data is protected.
Decryption is also supported by a password protected Word file, allowing you to edit the document as you normally would, but without saving the encrypted data. After decryption, the Word file is unprotected again and the original document can be opened.
OOXML Crypto Stream is designed as a very simple tool to be used quickly. A wizard guides you through the steps of encrypting and decryption.
The tool does not provide any context menu for file operations, so the user has full control of the encryption and decryption process.
