I am a pet person, so when I heard that this movie would be premiering the first weekend in May, I knew I had to see it. Pets are not all cute and fluffy. Installation:
Run the gPicker installer and click Next.
In the Options dialog, specify the address of the service you would like to use for random choices and click Next.
If you’d like, add more items to the list to create more choices, click Add. You can also remove any options you’ve added.
When you’re done, click Finish to start the gPicker application.
gPicker features a simple user interface with just a list of options you can choose from. The program comes in the compressed archive, and after unpacking it you should find a folder called gPicker in the root. There you’ll find the executable file (typically gpick.exe), along with a file called copyright.txt containing information on the use of the application and a license.
After you run the program, you can quit the application (File->Quit) and launch it again from the program directory. All previously added items will be still available.
The application has one other task at hand besides just picking something randomly: it saves a reference to the items you’ve chosen. This list can be used later for other purposes, like copying the file names to the clipboard.
If you already have the service address saved in the Preferences dialog, you can specify it there as well. Otherwise, you can enter a new address or click the button to get a new address from the random.org service.
In the main window, you’ll see a list of options you can choose from. To add items, just click the plus button and type their name. You can add as many as you like and remove any of them later, but there is no way to restore them if you want to use the same items again.
After you choose some items, click the dice button. The program will pick one of them and remove it from the list. All the other items will stay, but there is no way to select them again.
You can quit the application by clicking the File->Quit button.
